How well do you understand your cat?

Cats are very unlike dogs. Let’s see the comparison between the two:

How well do you understand your cat?

The characteristics may vary, but in reality, they are quite similar. Dogs openly display their traits, while cats have their unique ways of expressing them. What are these distinctive ways?

Cats are expressive, and most of their expressions are conveyed through their tail and body postures.

Don’t miss the cat looking at you and blinking their eyes or looking at you through almost closed eyes. That is a sign of conveying their kisses and love to you. If they are hungry, they will come up to you with a soft “meow” and lead you to their food bowls. If they are sleepy, they groom themselves by licking their body with their tongue (they are blessed with this natural cleanser) and find their favorite spot to doze off. Most of the daytime is spent in sleeping.

Most intriguing is when they are on their back, with legs up in the air and paws crouched towards their chest and in deep slumber. This they do when they feel they are in a safe and trusted environment. Cats are light sleepers as they have to be constantly on the alert for any lurking danger. It’s their built-in instinct when they are in the wild or are strays fending for themselves.

Another curious gesture is when you want to pet them. Cats allow you to pet them only when they want you to. They prefer the hands-off kind of love. They eat at their time, play at their time and more or less do everything at their own pace and time. Cats think the home is theirs and you are the one living with them. They are giving you the privilege of residing with them in their own home. They will likely show you their displeasure if you upset their daily routine.

The best part of having a cat is that you do not have to take them out for a walk to relieve themselves. You have a litter in a designated place and they will use only that to answer their nature’s call. They are socially very clean animals, but they still hate a bath. Be wary of their sharp nails when you decide to shower them.

Cats express themselves, and how well we can read them is up to us. Beware of a bushy tail. That’s their way of saying “I'm pissed off”.

Finally, they are not sociable to strangers and hate the unknowns around them.

Cats are undoubtedly fascinating and mysterious creatures. Their peculiar behaviors have the power to captivate us for hours. However, have you ever considered the reasons why cats behave the way they do? Get ready for the next exciting blog! Stay tuned for more.
